Roanoke Vineyards' Wine Library
Technical Notes
With each vintage we try to put a few cases aside so we can re-visit those wines several years in the future. This practice helps us objectively examine our work, our philosophy, and our vineyard practices. This spring we decided that you too should be able to have this same experience, and the Roanoke archives are now accessible in our new Wine Library tasting space. The Wine Library at Roanoke Vineyards affords you a unique tasting opportunity. You can taste a flight of related or contrasting wines, or quietly enjoy a bottle from the archives while you look out on the Cabernet Franc block.
Roanoke Vineyards' Wine Library holds our complete archive, as well as the complete archives of the Grapes of Roth, and a significant collection of wines from Wölffer Estate dating back to 1994. We also have a collection of fabulous wines by East End micro producers like John Leo and Jim Waters.
The Wine Library is open Saturday and Sunday from noon to six PM. Wines from the Library may also be purchased in the Tasting Room, or ordered via phone or email.
Tasting Notes
Just as memories are enhanced by the passage of time, great wines too benefit from a few trips around the sun. Proper aging requires three things: pristine fruit on the crush pad, a winemaker with experience, confidence, and a state-of-the-art cellar, and lastly, a climate controlled storage facility. A Roanoke wine will go the distance for you, and in 2040 we know you'll be able to open a well aged Roanoke Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, or one of our exquisite blends, and have an out-of-body experience. We make ethereal wines just for you.
