Soraya Pisacano

Soraya was born in the city of Cali, in Colombia. She came to the United States in 1998, first settling in Hampton Bays, on Long Island. She met Richard Pisacano in the fall of 1999, at Wolffer Estates, where Richard was Vineyard Managing. For Soraya, what started out as a day in the vineyard assisting with the harvest quickly turned into a profound change in her life’s direction. She and Richard were married in 2002, two years after the vines were planted on the current Sound Avenue property. Two years after that, at Soraya’s insistence (there was actually talk at one point of selling the farm!), plans were laid for what would officially become Roanoke Vineyards. The tasting room was opened that very same year, with Soraya manning the reins and applying all the savvy and business acumen she’d amassed during her 11 years working for a financial company in Columbia. Between Richard’s vision in the vineyard, and Soraya’s tenacity and discipline in the business office, Roanoke Vineyards started with a bang, quickly establishing itself as a limited-production boutique producer of singular distinction.
